These connections, all linked to a common pin, have displayed erratic behavior with resistance readings exceeding stable thresholds. Manipulations of the connecting cable can lead to fluctuating button readings, which may indicate complications at the cable's opposite end behind the metal panel.
Repair Approach
Diagnostics involved testing the resistance of each button connection. In cases where adjustments could not stabilize the resistance readings, it was determined that the issue likely originated from the cable's opposite end. Attempts to resolve these issues included mapping a keypad matrix and designing a test fixture. In some cases, the unit was determined to be beyond economic repair and was returned without repair.
Testing & Quality
Comprehensive diagnostic testing was performed to identify and isolate issues. Despite replacing certain connectors, the erratic readings persisted. Final inspection confirmed the unresolved nature of the faults. Affected units were labeled accordingly and returned to the customer with documentation of findings.
