Some of these boards are heavily potted - that may make repairs difficult, will have cost adders for potting removal. Please include wiring diagrams, genset model serial and engine number.
Common Failures
Common issues with these control boards include visible burn damage and overheating near capacitors, which often results in scorch marks, melted components, and damaged connectors. Key problematic components are the MOV, resettable fuses, and capacitors, which may develop holes or exhibit increased equivalent series resistance (ESR). A frequently observed failure involves an open resistor due to component degradation.
Repair Approach
Repairs typically involve replacing defective components such as the MOV, film capacitors, and resistors. The process may require removing and re-potting components to access and replace malfunctioning elements. Due to the heavy potting of these units, repairs are performed on a Time and Materials basis and are not warrantied.
Testing & Quality
Post-repair testing verifies the replacement of defective components. Complete power-up testing is not available due to the lack of wiring diagrams and the inability to simulate generator conditions. Final testing is required by the customer to confirm system functionality.
