Challenger
The Challenger series from SECO is a family of DC motor drives spanning the 8500, 8600, and 8800 product lines. These drives control DC motors across a horsepower range from 1/8 to 5 HP, regulating motor speed and torque by managing armature voltage and field excitation.
The series is organized around three power tiers:
- 8500 line — DC drives for motors rated 1/8 to 1 HP
- 8600 line — DC drives for motors rated 1/2 to 2 HP
- 8800 line — DC drives for motors rated 3 to 5 HP
Individual models are available in a variety of configurations, including versions with forward/reverse relays, run-brake configurations, and other option packages. These Challenger drives are commonly used in paper processing equipment and other industrial machinery requiring precise DC motor control.
