Dynamic Motor Brake
The Dynamic Motor Brake series comprises dynamic braking modules manufactured by Baldor Electric within the BQ7, BQ8, and BQ9 families. These motor control devices rapidly decelerate AC or DC motors by dissipating kinetic energy as heat through resistive braking circuits, providing controlled stopping without mechanical brakes.
Modules in this series offer adjustable deceleration through onboard potentiometers and configuration switches. They are commonly used in paper processing machinery and other applications that require controlled motor stopping.
Current Ratings
The series spans a broad range of current ratings to match different motor sizes and braking demands, from lower-current units around 16 amps up to high-capacity models rated as high as 600 amps.
Part Numbering
Products in this family follow the BQ7 designation, appearing in both BQ7xxxCP and BQ7-xxx-CC formats, where the numeric value indicates the amperage rating.
