String Encoder

The String Encoder series brings together cable-extension position measurement devices from Celesco and China Encoder. These products, also known as draw-wire or string encoders, convert linear displacement into an electrical signal for position and distance measurement.

The series includes cable-extension position transducers and draw-wire encoders. A representative unit uses a spring-loaded stainless steel cable wound on a precision potentiometer to produce a 4-20 mA output, with measurement ranges reaching 80 inches. Devices in this family span both encoder and transducer categories and are commonly applied in paper manufacturing and other industrial settings requiring linear position or distance sensing.
