Common Failures
Common issues include faulty joystick functionality, particularly with the inability of the joystick to register up and down movements, primarily due to broken solder joints on the hall position sensor. Other symptoms have been a loose joystick top and a torn rubber boot.
Repair Approach
Repair activities included resoldering broken connections on the hall position sensor to restore joystick functionality. Loose joystick components were secured using epoxy adhesive, and a worn rubber boot was replaced. Preventative measures included the application of new RTV to prevent water intrusion.
Testing & Quality
Diagnostic and functionality testing were conducted. Each button and joystick movement was verified for proper operation. The unit passed all required functional tests, including button press and connectivity checks.
