658 Series Actuator Control

The 658 Series comprises actuator control units manufactured primarily by Barber-Colman, with a related unit from Siebe Environmental. These electronic controllers process an analog input signal to drive electric actuators, converting the input into proportional mechanical motion for positioning connected equipment.

Members of the series are distinguished largely by their accepted input signal ranges. The family covers a broad set of standard current-loop and voltage inputs, including options such as 4-20mA, 10-50mA, 0-5VDC, 1-5VDC, and 3-15VDC, among others. This allows the controllers to interface with a wide variety of process signals.

These controllers are commonly used in HVAC systems and industrial process control for modulating valves, dampers, and similar equipment. Units in the series are supplied as control modules and do not include the actuator itself.
