Series 16C Temperature Controller
Overview
The Series 16C is a family of 1/16 DIN digital temperature controllers, primarily manufactured by Athena, with a subset carrying the Conair brand. These compact, panel-mount units provide precise temperature monitoring and control for industrial heating and cooling processes. Most models in the series are dedicated temperature controllers, while a small number are configured for chiller control applications.
Units in the series accept sensor inputs such as thermocouples (Type J and Type K) and RTDs, and drive heating or cooling equipment through solid-state relay outputs. Available configurations include alarm relays, analog (4–20 mA) output, and front-panel membrane interfaces for setpoint and parameter entry.
Applications
Series 16C controllers are commonly found in plastics processing equipment, extrusion systems, industrial chillers, and other manufacturing processes requiring accurate thermal regulation. The Conair-branded models are frequently used within plastics and process cooling equipment.
Configurations
The series spans a wide range of model variants, differentiated by input type, output configuration, and options such as analog output and alarm functions. Models are built on 1/16 DIN digital temperature control output base assemblies.
