Spectrum DC Drive

The Spectrum DC Drive series from Emerson is a family of SCR-based DC motor drives and their associated control electronics, designed to regulate the speed and torque of DC motors in industrial applications. The series spans multiple drive generations, including Spectrum I, II, III, and IV models, covering a range of horsepower ratings from roughly 10 HP up to 250 HP.

Drives in this series use SCR power conversion with integral motor field supplies to provide precise speed and torque control. Many units are found in paper processing and similar heavy industrial environments.

The series includes complete drive units and base assemblies alongside the individual boards and modules that make them up. Component-level products include:

• DC motor drives and controls — complete Spectrum I through IV units and base assemblies.
• Control boards — Spectrum I and II main motherboards, control boards, and option boards.
• Power and firing electronics — power boards, field regulator PCBs, and power supply / firing boards.
• Control cards and modules — process signal followers, voltage signal isolators, and ramp stop / zero speed detection modules.
