The Series 405 PLC is a modular programmable logic controller platform used for industrial automation and machine control. Originally developed by Texas Instruments and later carried forward by Siemens, the family is also widely known as the DL-405 line offered by PLC Direct, Automation Direct, Facts Engineering, and KOYO. Products are rack-based, mounting into slotted bases that connect over a common backplane.
The series covers the complete building blocks needed to assemble a working control system, including CPU modules, power supplies, expansion modules, and mounting bases in several slot configurations. A broad selection of I/O rounds out the family for connecting field devices and equipment.
Modules in the Series
CPUs and bases — central processors, expansion modules, and 4-, 6-, and 8-slot base racks.
Input modules — AC, DC, and AC/DC discrete inputs plus analog inputs including thermocouple and RTD types.
Output modules — AC, DC, relay, sourcing, and NMOS FET outputs, along with analog output modules.
Specialty and support — high-speed counters, pulse positioning, communications and I/O link modules, temperature control, input simulators, and expander cables.
These modules interoperate within the Model 405 architecture, allowing systems to be configured for a wide range of discrete and analog control tasks.
